== Description == '''SCP-173''' is a concrete sculpture of unknown origin measuring 2.0 meters tall and weighing approximately 468 kg. The statue is vaguely humanoid in shape, although improperly proportioned. Traces of Krylon brand spray paint on the statue's upper body, resembling a face. '''SCP-173''' consists of multiple individual concrete portions joined by steel reinforcing bars. The two appendages projecting from the upper section of the sculpture consist of exposed and tangled reinforcing bars where the concrete has disintegrated. When SCP-173 is left unobserved and line of sight is broken by a human conscious being, the object becomes animate, moving at speeds documented between 60 and 90 km/h. The mechanism for its locomotion is not known at this time. Personnel assigned to enter its containment chamber are instructed to alert one another before blinking to avoid complete loss of visual contact. '''SCP-173''' displays awareness of its environment, reacting to changes and responding to stimuli when it is free to move. It is unknown if '''SCP-173''' is intelligent or sapient. However, the statue is extremely hostile and will attempt to kill any human that enters its containment chamber if left unobserved. The sculpture is capable of manipulating the steel rebar to attack its victims where it will attempt to snap the neck at the base of the skull or strangle the victim to death. However, alternative methods of attack and hostility towards non-humans have been recorded. For unclear reasons, '''SCP-173''' seems incapable of targeting unconscious individuals. The painted facial patterns of the sculpture alter over time as it is left unobserved. As the sapience of the object has yet to be determined, whether this change is dependent on any behavior state or is purely cosmetic is unknown.
